* Adult CPR / First Aid Prepare participants on being able to give Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation for patients age 8 and above. Participants also learn how to respond to emergencies such as bleeding control and shock management, splinting of possible broken bones or dislocated joints, heat and cold emergencies, poisonings including snakebites and ingestions. |

*AED Teaches participants how to safely use the Automatic External Defibrillator, in cardiac arrest. Participants must be certified in Adult CPR before taking the AED Course. |

*Infant / Child CPR First Aid Participants learn how to recognize and give Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitations in infants and children up to age 8. Participants also learn how to respond to emergencies such as bleeding control and shock management, splinting of possible broken bones or dislocated joints, heat and cold emergencies, poisonings including snakebites and ingestions in children and infants. |

* Oxygen administration Prepares participants the knowledge and skills needed to know when and how to use supplemental oxygen and breathing devices. |

EMT - Basic EMT- B's are trained in basic medical knowledge and skills. Patient treatment guidelines are described in protocols following both national guidelines and local medical policies. The goal of EMT intervention is to rapidly evaluate a patient's condition and to maintain a patient's airway, breathing and circulation by CPR and defibrillation. In addition, EMT intervention aims to control external bleeding, prevent shock, and prevent further injury or disability by immobilizing potential spinal or other bone fractures, while expediting the safe and timely transport of the patient to a hospital emergency department for definitive medical care. Training provided meets all U.S. Department of Transportation requirements. Once the course is completed participates are eligble to test at the NREMT Basic level, to accquire the EMT- B National certification and the Texas Department of State Health Service certification at the Basic level. EMT - Basic Classes are held ever two years. Next upcoming class is August 2006, lasting approx. 4 months in duration. Minum of 15 partipates needed to hold the class. * Class requires min. of 6 participants before class will be held. |
