Taxi Licenses:

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a taxi or touring vehicle originating within the corporate limits of the city without first securing a permit from the city.

  • Maintenance of a valid driver's license of the state from all drivers.


  • A valid Safety inspection for all vehicles used.


  • Compliance with all insurance requirements covering public liability, property damage and collision and other state insurance or state law requirements.


  • No solicitation for business will be made at any place of business or entrance without consent of the owner of the business.


  • Fee: $75.00 for permit for operation, additional units $25.00/each
    Small Special Events and Large Special Events Permits:

    A "Special Event" permit is required for any event to be conducted on and requiring exclusive use of a portion of a public park or the public beach, which promotes recreation, leisure or education, including, but not limited to the following: artistic, crafts, music, and sports contests, events, showings, and competitions, including commercial activities associated therewith. (Refer to Chapter 18, Port Aransas Code of Ordinances for details)


    Application required plus a fee of $25.00 plus a security/cleanup deposit according to size of event.

    Alcoholic Beverage Permit

    Alcoholic Beverage Fees:

    The city shall levy and collect a fee equal to one-half (1/2) of the fee collected by the state from all premises licensed or permitted as authorized under the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code. It shall be the duty of the city secretary to issue a receipt to each such person paying the license or permit fee. (Code 1980, Ch. 1, (~ 9)

    The city prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages within the corporate limits of the city by any dealer where the place of business of any such dealer is within three hundred (300) feet of any church, public school or public hospital unless the place of business was in existence on October 6, 1966 and has remained established and engaged in the sale of alcoholic beverages within three hundred (300) feet of any church, public school or public hospital.

    Permit Fees:
    Mixed Beverage - $375.00/yr.
    Late Hours - $75.00/yr.
    Beer and Wine on premise - $87.50/yr.
    Late Hours - $125.00/yr.
    Beer and Wine off premise - $30.00/yr.
    Excursion Boat - $65.00/yr.
    Local Distributor - $50.00/yr.
    Package Store - $250.00
