A camp sponsored by Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department will be held for kindergarten through sixth grade students who are not participating in the school’s Optional Flexible Year Program (OFYP), six times this school year.
Parks and Recreation Youth Program Coordinator Ken Yarbrough said kids who don’t participate in OFYP day get a day off from school, and that’s where Parks and Recreation comes in.
“We will be providing a day-long camp for students that will include, arts and crafts, recreation time in the gym, a movie, karaoke, lunch and light snacks in the afternoon,” Yarbrough said.
Drop off for the OFYP camp will be at Brundrett Middle School. Pick up will be at the H.G. Olsen Elementary School cafeteria. Students may be dropped off at 8 am and stay until 5:45 pm.
The cost is $20 per student and discounts are available for those who have multiple siblings who are also students.
An enrollment form must be filled out prior to the camp and filed with the Parks and Recreation Department. The forms may be picked up at the office, 710 W. Ave. A.
