Roberts Point Park in Port Aransas, Texas is home to waterfront family fun. Built through volunteer efforts and a Texas Parks and Wildlife Outdoor Recreation grant, this 50-acre park is located on a peninsula of land that juts into the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and forms a safe harbor for the municipal harbor that has 250 boat slips for permanent and transient vessels.
The park is visible as visitors ride the ferryboats from the mainland to Port Aransas on Mustang Island and folks may drive, bike, walk or take the free local trolley to the park from stops along a 1-hour loop that runs through Port Aransas.
Roberts Point Park is the host site for activities and events throughout the year in this South Texas tourist destination.
The park features a large pavilion for special events such as fishing tournaments, fish weigh-ins, family cookouts, and school outings. There is also a stage for performances during festivals or other local talent events. The pavilion is available for rental through the Harbormaster's Office. Call 361-749-5429 for more information.
Fisherfolk can enjoy their sport from the granite jetties that mark the harbor, from the lighted fishing pier, or from the bulkhead that surrounds the park. The 1-mile bulkhead also serves as a walking, jogging, and cycling trail with benches and palapas (shade umbrellas) along the route.
An observation tower overlooks the ship channel and provides an excellent spot for watching the dolphins as they bow-surf in front of the cargo ships and tankers that travel the channel.
The Patsy Jones Amphitheater serves as a music venue for 7 monthly concerts that are presented to the public free of charge on the 2nd Friday of each month from April through October. Link to Sunset Sounds The amphitheater is located along the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, just north of the soccer field which hosts local league matches and pick-up games.
A landscaped patio area sits at the tip of the park overlooking the entrance to Dennis Dreyer Municipal Harbor with an incredible view of the Lydia Ann Channel.
Two public restroom facilities are onsite.
A picnic pavilion offers shaded picnic tables adjacent to shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, bocci court, basketball court, sand volleyball, a soccer field, and playground equipment for the younger crowd.
A xeriscape garden with plant and wildlife habitat educates and entertains visitors as they prepare to leave the island on the road to the ferry.
