Ave A with payment by deadline for each session. Out of town registrants may mail form to Parks & Rec, 710 W. Ave A, Port Aransas, TX 78373. Make check out to Parks & Rec. Cost is $20 per weekly session for the 3rd & 4th grade session and $40 for 5th-8th grade session. The camp for 3rd & 4th grade is held at H.G. Olsen Elementary School, Station Street at Palm Drive. The 5th-8th grade camp is held at Brundrett Middle School on 10th Street at Avenue B. Week 1: June 10 Week 2: June 17 Week 3: July 1 Older students should bring sack lunch or heavy snack, sun block, thermos or bottle for water. they should wear clothes that can get wet or muddy, hat, protective wear from sun. The younger kids will need a snack, water bottle, hat, protective wear/sunblock, outdoor clothing for field trip days (Tuesdays & Thursdays) The GK-12 Summer Field Science Program is gearing up for its second year! The program is for children who will be entering third through eighth grades this fall, and is a joint effort by Port Aransas ISD, the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Program, and UTMSI's GK12 program. Daily hands-on science activities are conducted by local teachers and university students outdoors and in classrooms at H.G. Olsen Elementary School and Brundrett Middle School in June and July. Graduate and undergraduate students at UTMSI serve as mentors and assistant teachers on field trips, and guest scientists from the Coastal Bend community participate in daily field excursions. Catamaran Cruise Enjoy sailing aboard the S/V Isla with Captain Tom Doran. Make it a family activity or parents may register youth aged 10 years and older for the 3-hour tour. Those under 10 must be accompanied by an adult and a life jacket must be brought for younger children. Two dates have been set for excursions. Set sail Tuesday, June 9 or June 23 (weather alternate dates 6/16 & 6/30), from 9 am until noon. Meet at Woody's Sport Center on Cotter St. Bring a sack lunch. $9 per session, per person. Spaces are limited. Reserve a seat by calling 749-4158. |
