Camp Marlin will seek to engage students by allowing them to play and explore through the limitlessness of their imaginations. Students learn ensemble skills and creative problem solving while activating the imagination, body and voice. End of camp field trips ARE included with the camp tuition.
It is for grades 2-5 and runs a full day, 8:30am ? 5:30pm for $125 per week. Disney's Aladdin "Kids": June 5-9, ?Performance? based camp and all campers must participate.
League of Heroes: June 12-16, Campers will explore and develop their own heroic character as they work together to save Port Aransas from impending environmental and ecological catastrophe. Field trip to Texas State Aquarium June 15.
Star Wars: June 26-30, Initiates in this weeklong Jedi academy will learn about the 3 pillars of Jedi strength; The Force, Knowledge and Self Discipline. Field trip to Corpus Christi Museum of Science and Natural History June 29. Hogwarts: July 10-14, Step on to platform 9 ¾ and be transported into a week of magical enchantment. Field trip to Corpus Christi Museum of Science and Natural History July 13.
The Amazing Race: July 17-21, This adventure camp is based on hit TV show and will have campers competing daily in new challenges, dodging road blocks, avoiding detours and ultimately working together to cross the finish line. Field trip to Hurricane Alley July 20.
Treasure Hunt: July 31-Aug. 4, Adventure! Danger! Giggles and Laughs highlight a week of treasure hunting as students use clues to find hidden maps, use their creativity to solve puzzles, and ultimately be a part of the team that discovers the many treasures hidden throughout Camp Marlin. Field trip to Texas State Aquarium Aug. 10.
Yo Ho Ho, It's a Pirate's Life For Me: Aug. 7-11, Set sail on the swashbuckling adventure of a lifetime. Field trip aboard the Pirate adventure boat Aug. 17.
All registrations processed in the order received and will be accepted until the camp is full. Discounts for multiple weeks and/or multiple family members. A $60 deposit is required to secure registration for each camp. Balance must be paid prior to start of camp.

NEW: Camp Sailfish is for Pre-K, Kinder and 1st Grade students. Perfect camp for youngsters getting ready for first camp adventure. Cost is $100 per week with same registration/discounts as Camp Marlin. Over each one-week session, children will play in well supervised groups and take part in a variety of games and structured activities, such as story time, arts and crafts, parades and special activities. Themes for Camp Sailfish are the same as those for Camp Marlin with age appropriate activities that might include, fly a kite day, buddle day, cupcake day, best friend day and many more. Each daily schedule at Camp Sailfish will include plenty of time for games and free play, as well as trips to the Community Pool Tuesday-Friday for swim and water safety lessons. Held in the HG Olsen Cafeteria, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm.

All students are enrolled into camps based on their 2016-2017 grade level.

Pooling Sailboat Skills

The second Come Sail Basic class session will be held Tuesday through Thursday, June 20-23.
All training is done in the Community Pool.

MOVIE UNDER THE STARS

See another movie courtesy of Parks & Rec each second Wednesday night of the month. Like old Drive-in movies, they are shown outside.
Movies will be shown at the Patsy Jones Amphitheater in Roberts Point Park, 301 J.C. Barr Blvd.
Bring a chair or blanket. Golf carts may drive up on grass.
Admission is free, and the movie will be family friendly. Bring the family and friends, or just come by yourself.
Free popcorn & drink will be provided.

Class Times for 3 years and up are 9:40 am and 10:30 am Tuesday through Friday for 2 weeks.

Session 1: June 6-16
Registration for residents: Tuesday through Friday while pool is open starting Tuesday, May 23.
Registration for non-residents: Tuesday through Friday while pool is open starting Tuesday, May 30.

Session 2: July 11-21
Registration for residents: Tuesday through Friday while pool is open starting June 27.
Registration for non-residents: Tuesday through Friday while pool is open starting July 4.

Birding on the Boardwalk
- Wednesdays at 9am in the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center at the end of Ross Avenue. FREE! Join Nan Dietert as she points out what flying, floating or fishing at the Birding Center. Birders of all levels are encouraged to attend.

Qigong - NEW DAY Wednesdays 6-7pm. Meet at the Pavilion in Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie's Pasture located at the end of Port Street. $3/person. Suzanne McCann will be leading a moving meditation. Relax, release.

Ground Nesting Bird Walk & Talk - Saturday, June 17, at 9am, Meet Kristina Macaulay, a field ornithologist from the American Bird Conservancy and Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program and learn about the ground nesting birds of the Nature Preserve at Charlie's Pasture. Meet in the Pavilion on Port St. FREE!

Paint the Preserve - Saturday, July 8, 9-10am Marilyn Cook teaches watercolor landscape techniques. All supplies will be provided but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Space is limited. RVSP by 5pm July 7. Meet in the Pavilion on Port St. $10/person.

New building coming soon. City council has approved the use of the lot on Cutoff Rd and Port Street to be used for a modular building that will act as a Nature Preserve Visitor Center, classroom and office. Keep your eye out for a late Summer Open House - We're hoping for August 2017. Stay tuned for more information.

VOLUNTEER - The Nature Preserves of Port Aransas would like help from you! Volunteer opportunities include: Preserve Stewards, Guides and Special Event Staff. Volunteers are needed to help with trail maintenance, gardening, group field trips, nature programs and invasive species work days. Yoga on the beach
Second Saturdays, 8am

Free yoga class instruction by Nancy Myers at Horace Caldwell Pier, at the end of Beach Street. Bring mat or towel suitable for use on the beach. Held the second Saturday of each month.

Interval Training:

High Intensity Interval Training is offered by Parks and Recreation at 6:30am on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.

Beginner-Moderate Interval Training, a less intense workout is held Mondays & Wednesdays at 5:15pm.

Both are with Personal Trainer Karen Decker, for men & women in any physical shape with certified trainer Karen Decker at 361-800-1759. $3 drop in class or $30 for 15 classes. Check [make out to COPA] or cash.
Classes are held upstairs in the 2nd floor foyer of Port Aransas High School, 100 S. Station St.


Tone and Shape with Weights

Use weights to get fit at weight training through Port A Parks and Recreation. Certified trainer Karen Decker (361-800-1759) leads the exercise.

Survival Swimming

A unique one-on-one program for children 6 months - 6 years of age held at the Port Aransas Community Pool, 700 Clark Parkway in Port Aransas.
Survival Swim Foundation program is on average 6-7 weeks, 4 days a week, 15 minute lessons each day.
Swim 2 Survive Aquatics Academy is partnering with the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department to bring this life saving program to Port Aransas and its surrounding communities. Lessons will be offered Tuesday-Friday, 9am - 1pm, through summer 2017.
Accidents happen and drowning is preventable. Swim Float Survive? lessons are the best way to teach a baby, toddler, and or a young child to rescue himself/herself in an aquatic emergency.

Port A RPG Game Night

If you are into gaming age 16 and older, here is another outlet for play. In a con-trolled environment, high school and college gamers play Pathfinder, Star Wars RPG and Mutants & Master-minds. Held every Friday and Saturday, 4:30 pm to close, in the Girl Scout hut inside Parks and Recreation building, 739 W. Ave. A. No charge to attend, but food usually is ordered if gamers want to eat while playing.

Sunset Sounds

Come on out for music outside each 2nd Friday of the month through October. The free concert allows you to watch the sun set over the Corpus Christi Ship Channel as music fills the air at the Patsy Jones Amphitheater in Roberts Point Park. Bring a chair or blanket and any refreshments you want. The Hot Dog Lady will sell at the park for those not bringing food to eat.

Golf Cart Scavenger Hunt

Golf cart scavenger hunt through parts of town, especially Old Town, DEFINITELY NOT ON HIGHWAY 361! Open to all licensed carts. $15 per cart. Limit of people in cart must be legal limit. Money for 1st prize, variety of prizes for others participating. Register 10-10:30am at the Port Aransas Community Park, 700 Clark Pkwy, off Ross Avenue. Hunt starts at 10:30am. Must be back at park by 1pm to be eligible to win. Fun for all ages!
