Welcome to the City of Port Aransas' webpage. Port Aransas is a magnet for those who enjoy the atmosphere of our barrier island. We have great beaches on the Gulf of Mexico and world class offshore and bay fishing. The City of Port Aransas is known for its birding and year round eco-tourism opportunities. The City's commitment to our barrier island environment through our parks and natural areas is unparalleled in Texas. We are currently in the process of placing amenities and trails in our 1100 acre nature preserve. The City is in the process of continually moving forward, improving services, and is the process of a major comprehensive plan rewrite. We also have one of the most reasonable tax rates in the area, a great business climate, and an excellent school system. The City operates under Home Rule with a Council-Manager form of government. We have a six member, place elected, council and mayor. Regularly scheduled council meetings are the third Thursday of every month at five o'clock in the evening.
