Enchanted Holiday Forest -- Come celebrate the season with us!

Port A Stronger
is the theme for the 2018 Holiday Forest.
Businesses, civic groups, families, groups of friends or individuals are invited to set up and decorate a tree in celebration of the holiday. The more the merrier!
Get a tree and decorate it in your interpretation of our theme. Real or fake tree, or something totally made up is acceptable. Get creative! Plus this year we will be offering prizes for decorated trees.

Set up will be 11 am - 4 pm on Sunday, Dec. 16. The display is open to the public weekdays 10am - 5pm on Monday through Saturday, Dec. 17-21, in the Port Aransas Community Center, 408 N. Alister St. Take down of trees will start Thursday, Dec. 28.

Contact Community Program Coordinator Pam Greene by email at pamg@cityofportaransas.org to register.

Port Aransas Honors & Remembers Tree

We want to honor those who gave some or all for us, please take the time to make sure anyone that you love who served has a place of honor on the Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Port A Honors and Remembers Tree. We are asking you show your love and support of current and past U.S. soldiers this holiday season by honoring them with a star or a ribbon placed on the patriotic Christmas tree to be displayed in the Community Center.

Please make sure I have the best information on every veteran you know. We really want to include a photo (does not have to be old or military photo.

The tree will be decorated with ribbons and stars for service members as follows: Yellow ribbon for those who are deployed, blue star for U. S.- based troops, gold star for fallen soldiers, silver star for those who were wounded, white star for those missing in action, purple star for those who received honor and red star for all veterans not fitting in any other category.

All previous ornaments will be redone, so please make sure we have your's as soon as possible even if they were on a previous ornament. We tried hard last year to remake and add new after Hurricane Harvey, but time got away from me.

Photos may be brought by City Hall or Nature Preserves office to be scanned & returned, or emailed to Parks & Rec Community Program Coordinator Pam Greene at pamg@cityofportaransas.org. Please specify the branch of service and which category. I believe are were several red stars (all veterans) who were also fallen, wounded or received metals or ribbons, as well as many with no photo.

Veterans do not have to come from or live in Port Aransas. They can be friends or relatives of anyone with ties to our town. As long as they matter to you, we want to recognize them.

You also may fill out questionnaire online at Port A Honors & Remembers online form.

Everyone has some connection to our armed forces. We are all grateful for the life we get to live because of them. Let?s all show support for our soldiers and families this Christmas.
