Boards And Commissions

The City Council is committed to appointing highly qualified and dedicated individuals to the City of Port Aransas Boards, Commissions and Committees. The application process takes place from the first of May through October each year, with membership appointments beginning the first of June.

If you are interested in serving on a Board, Commission or Committee, please complete the application and submit to the City Secretary at 710 W. Avenue A, Port Aransas, TX 78373-4128 or via facsimile at (361) 749-4101 or via email to iparker@cityofportaransas.org.

Mayor Charles Bujan and the City Council encourage you to apply even if the Board or Commission you wish to serve on has few or no openings. All remaining applications are reviewed throughout the year to fill vacancies, to serve on ad hoc task forces, or to assist on temporary committees established to review specific, short-term issues.

BOARD OPENINGS

The City of Port Aransas is accepting applications for various Boards with vacancies. All positions serve without compensation. All applicants must be registered voters and City of Port Aransas residents. No one can serve on more than one board, commission or committee at the same time. Applications will be accepted until Monday, August 27, 2018.

Board of Adjustments and Appeals was created for the purpose of interpreting and modifying zoning regulations in particular cases as circumstances may require in accordance with state law and local ordinances. Applicants for this board must be qualified registered voters and own real property within the city. This board meets on an as needed basis. Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was created for the purpose of advising both the City Council and Parks & Recreation Department regarding the planning and development of park and recreational facilities, regulations governing their use, and recommending updates to the Parks & Recreation Master Plan. Regular meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:30 pm at City Hall. Planning and Zoning Commission was created to advise city council in carrying out its various duties and functions regarding planning and environmental quality as provided by the Charter. Recreational Development Corporation is organized exclusively for the purpose of benefiting and accomplishing the following public purposes, including the issuance of bonds, on behalf of the City of Port Aransas, Texas: the construction, development, expansion, maintenance, operation, and promotion of recreational and sports facilities and programs, including but not limited to, sports fields and stadiums, swimming pool, sports complexes, and related facilities and improvements.
