Community Park in Port Aransas
Community Park

700 Clark Parkway off Ross Avenue

The Port Aransas Community Park is more than a place to drop off the kids. It's for everyone.

Built with Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Outdoor Recreation grant funds and revenue generated from a ½-cent sales tax, the Community Park opened in May 1999 and offered a new source of recreation and exercise to the island community and the guests that visit throughout the year.

At the head of the entrance road, the Community Swimming Pool invites passersby to "get in the swim". The year-round pool is a Z-shaped facility that is ADA-compliant with a zero-depth entry area and heated during the winter months. There is no shortage of programs as the pool offers water aerobics classes, deep water aerobics, total aquacize classes, youth and adult swim lessons, swim team, lap swim, open swim, and rentals for pool or birthday parties. Other classes include beginning sailing lessons, cast net lessons, swim meets and Lifeguard training. New double slides provide more enjoyment. Check the pool schedule for the current list of activities and times.

A pavilion area next to the pool contains picnic tables for those who want to relax and enjoy a snack under the canopy. For our sunbathers, lounge chairs and benches surround the pool with plenty of shade for the sun-conscious.

The Community Park has three baseball fields available for all levels of players. The Senior League field is lighted and hosts the Port Aransas High School Baseball team and older Little League teams. The younger Little League teams use the lighted Little League field, and T-Ball players have their own field with a 50-foot base path to complete the triplex.

Public restrooms and a concession stand are centrally located at the ball fields.
The Community Park includes a 1.1-mile walking/jogging trail that meanders through the flats and ends at a birding gazebo overlooking Charlie's Pasture. Visitors can take the shorter .46 mile path that circles the baseball fields.

A sand volleyball court, a basketball court, a 9-hole disc golf course, and 3- game court for pickleball provide a variety of activities for park visitors.
Port Aransas Skate Park

About 10,000 square feet in size, the skatepark is located on the southern edge of Port Aransas Community Park across the parking lot from the Community Pool near the in-line skate rink.

A 12-hole Disc Golf Course is set around the ball fields in the Community Park. Plenty of fun can be had maneuvering with the wind as you try each hole.

Equipment is available for Pickleball and may be played inside the Community Park Skate Rink, 700 Clark Pkwy, off Ross Ave. The public is invited to enjoy the fun of this paddle sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and ping pong.

The rink has been marked off, so if you have your own equipment, you may play any time rink is not in use. Same rules apply if you don't have equipment but know how to play as you may check out equipment at Community Pool by showing a Driver?s License whenever the pool is open. FREE!
